ALBERTINA Jason, accused of kidnapping a three-month-old baby, was on Tuesday remanded in custody after she made a brief court appearance in the Tsumeb Magistrate’s Court.
Prosecutor Sakaria Mupuma opposed the granting of bail.
“The State has a strong case against the accused person and when convicted she will be subjected to a custodial sentence, therefore, if granted bail, she will abscond and won’t appear for her trial,” he said.

Magistrate Ndatola Namushinga postponed the case to 17 August 2022 for legal aid and further police investigation.
Jonas was arrested on Tuesday at Oshaandja village, 7 km from Oshakati West, Oshana Region.
According to Oshikoto police commander commissioner Armas Shivute, the accused was found with the baby boy who was identified by his 18 years old mother from Onhele-yiwa village.
“The baby was medically checked by a doctor and handed over to the mother,” he said.
Jason’s accomplices, Lydia Kaunehafo Shimbilinga (21) and her brother Joseph Natangwe Shatilwe (25), were both arrested last week and remanded in custody.
Their case was also postponed to 17 August 2022 for further investigation.
