DESPITE the fast approaching winter season, Namibia Meteorological Services predicted a particularly warm week for the country’s coastal towns and explained that the heat will most likely be accompanied by sandstorms.
According to Namibia Meteorological Service, from Tuesday, the coastal towns are expected to be hot during the week. Walvis Bay was highlighted in this regard as the town is expected to experience minimum temperatures averaging between 19⁰C to 22⁰C and maximum temperatures between 34⁰C to 35⁰C.
While the coast is hot and windy, Namibia Meteorological Services explained that advection of cold air is expected over the central, eastern and northern parts of the country. However, this cold air will not last the entire week.
Namibia Meteorological Services predicted that the interior of the country will be cool at first, but will eventually also become mild to warm during the course of the week. Furthermore, it was stated that this warmth will likely come with fresh to strong easterly winds as well.
Still, the central parts of the country will not become as warm as coastal areas according to Namibia Meteorological Services’ predictions, which indicate that Windhoek, for example, will experience minimum temperatures of 5⁰C and maximum temperatures between 21⁰C to 22⁰C.
Namibia Meteorological Services also predicted a hot week for the northern parts of the country, specifically from Tuesday.
However, the north is still expected to be cooler than the coastal towns, with places like Ondangwa, in the Oshana region, expected to experience maximum temperatures between 24⁰C to 30⁰C.
