SPORT remains an attractive activity for young people and is often used as a drawcard to recruit people to health and education programmes while at the same time keeping them engaged.
Hence, the National Youth Sports Development Platform (NYSDP) is seeking financial and material resources to roll out its sports community development program.
NYSDP, a non-profit making organization, relies heavily on donors to keep it afloat, hence they are calling on Namibians to be part of the initiative of developing the youth through sport.
The platform benefits the less privileged members of society and operates in all 14 regions.
Manager of Volunteers Jane Toivo said the resources will be used by the volunteers attached to various communities, while the funds will be used to purchase equipment, coordinate the program, and run yearly training workshops and sports events across the country.
“We need equipment for various sports codes,” she added.
NYSDP’s vision is to create platforms that empower, encourage, and support community development through physical and recreational activities.
Toivo said they will also host the volunteers’ orientation with different facilitators from different sports codes.
The exchange volunteer’s general orientation will be held in Rietfontein from 01-06 June 2022.
She said that an estimated 90 volunteers are expected to attend the training.
If anyone is willing to assist NYSDP in developing a Namibian child through sport, they can contact Jane Toivo at 081 488 0850.
