Covid-19 cases are on a steady increase as the country has entered its fifth wave of the pandemic with total cases at 2 982 cumulatively.
A total of 165 cases were reported on 26 May.
This is according to the Ministry of Health and Social Services’ update which noted of the total new cases recorded, 153 are new cases and 12 are reinfections.
The sex distribution is 88 females of which 82 are new cases and 77 males of which 71 are new cases. The age ranges of those infected include the youngest which is three days to the oldest being 87 years of age.
The cases are reported from nine regions and among the confirmed cases are 42 learners from different schools, three teachers, and two health care workers.
Two cases have received one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, while 18 cases are fully vaccinated of which seven have received a booster dose, 20 cases are not eligible, and 125 cases are not vaccinated.
A total of 143 cases are currently hospitalized in ten regions of which eight are in ICUs.
Two of the hospitalized cases have received one dose of the vaccine. Nine of the hospitalized cases are fully vaccinated, and none of the ICU admissions are vaccinated. No deaths were reported on 26 May.
By 25 May 2022, a total of 465 327 people aged 18 years and older have received one dose of the vaccine, representing 31.6% of the target population (1 471 973).
