THE Swakopmund jetty was temporarily closed on Sunday morning by two men after they spotted “suspicious-looking pools of blood” on the famous landmark and called the police.
The Erongo police said their investigation team and detectives who attended the scene reported some small spots of dry blood stains and bird feathers on the jetty.
According to the police, no foul play is suspected at this stage and the viewing of CCTV footage will be included in further investigations.
On social media platforms, people gave their opinions on the cause, with one calling it the leftovers of a vampire feeding frenzy but most blamed illegal fishermen who they say made the mess when cleaning fish.
The jetty was soon opened to the public again.
