A NEWBORN baby girl miraculously survived three days in a pit latrine at Ohailulu village in Okatana after being dumped there.
The baby was reportedly in the pit latrine since Tuesday and was rescued on Thursday around 15:20 by members of the Namibian police.
According to Community Affairs Officer Warrant Officer Frieda Shikole, a 20-year-old Angolan woman has been arrested for concealment of birth and child neglect.
Shikole said the suspect, who is employed as a domestic worker, has been admitted to the Oshakati State Hospital under police guard.
“The baby was found by the owner of the house who heard the cry from the pit latrine and saw blood around it,” Shikole said.
The baby was rescued by the police and rushed to the Oshakati hospital where she is currently admitted.
