IMAGINE dropping your vehicle at a carwash and returning an hour later only to be informed that your car was stolen by the same person who was washing it.
That is exactly what happened to Windhoek resident Elia Amuthenu on Wednesday.
He dropped his white Honda (N91951W) at a carwash at Otjomuise and went home.
But when he returned an hour later, his car was nowhere to be found.

The owner of the carwash outlet was himself in shock, unable to explain what happened.
It is alleged that the unidentified carwash owner left for a few moments to attend to a burst water pipe and when he returned moments later, the car was gone.
And so was one of his employees, a certain Kamati who was hired Tuesday.
People in the vicinity testified that they saw Kamati driving away with the white Honda.
The problem is that the details about the suspect are sketchy. No one knows his full (real) name.
He did not own a cellphone and informed his employer that he did not even know how to drive a car.
Kamati speaks Oshiwambo but his accent was suspect, allegedly sounding more like someone from the Kavango regions.
Amuthenu said he had just filled up his car’s fuel tank ahead of the fuel price increase.
The incident was reported to the police and Amuthenu is pleading for help to trace his N$70 000 car.
He can be reached on cellphone number 081 220 6496.
