A POLICE officer, Sergeant Sean Mbango (45), died in hospital after an accident involving a Nampol pickup that overturned 30 km from Rehoboth on the road to Klein Aub.
Four police officers and five civilians were travelling in a Nampol Toyota Hilux on the C26 gravel road on Friday morning when the driver, a 31-year-old male police officer, allegedly lost control of the vehicle and it overturned. In the process, the canopy came off and the passengers were flung out.
All the injured persons were taken to hospital but Mbango succumbed to his injuries at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rehoboth.
A case of culpable homicide is investigated.
