DISMAYED parents in the Ohangwena Region have drawn up a petition voicing their disappointment with the November 2021 grade 11 results and their concern about the new curriculum.
The group staged a peaceful demonstration on 18 March.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Priskila Kambode said they are very concerned about the new curriculum and feel betrayed by the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture.

Kambode said the change in the teaching system was a huge mistake.
She said though they believe rewriting of exams was necessary, it was in the first place caused by negligent exam officials.
“Many learners suffered because of those officials who stole the examination papers. Officials were not controlled well,” she said.
The parents want the Ministry to abolish the new curriculum and either introduce a better education system or return to the old curriculum.
They said learners wrote exams under severe stress and were not allowed sufficient breaks between exam days.
They appealed to the Ministry to always consult parents when changes are introduced in the education system.
Ohangwena governor Walde Ndevashiya forwarded the petition to the office of the Minister of Education for further action.
The Minister of Education, Anna Nghipondoka, will visit the region from 25 to 26 March to provide in-depth information about the reformed curriculum.
