THE death of the 51-year-old Hendriana Kambikiti, who was raped and murdered on Saturday, shocked the community of Ogongo, proving once again the need to strengthen safety in the area.
Kambikiti was reportedly raped, murdered and robbed of her cell phone by 27-year-old Joseph Nuujoma Petrus at Oshuushu village.
Kambikiti’s murder makes it the first gruesome incident recorded in the constituency.
Ogongo District Coordinator for Swapo Alweendo Nangolo said the death of Kambikiti is a wake-up call for the people in his community to mobilize themselves to counter and fight social evils.
Nangolo stated that this horrific attack has shocked the district and the nation at large.
“We ask the youth not to involve in such barbaric attacks against our women and children,” he said.
Further, he urged inhabitants of Ogongo to walk in groups whenever returning from the cuca shop in the evenings to avoid becoming easy prey to criminals.
He also called on parents and caregivers to raise their children in such a way that they become law-abiding citizens.
Nangolo, with Onamundindi branch coordinator Timoteus Iithete, on Tuesday, joined other mourners to pay their respects to the deceased and deliver messages of condolences to the bereaved family.
