THE Omusati police are looking for the murderer of nine-year-old Tuhafeni Malakia whose body was found buried in a shallow hole at Ondjungulume village in the Otamanzi Constituency.
The discovery was made by the boy’s grandmother around 06:00 on Friday.
According to Omusati police commander Commissioner Titus Shikongo, the suspect is unknown and no arrests have been made yet, however, intense investigations are ongoing.
Shikongo said the suspect used an unknown object to severely beat the deceased on the right side of the face and right eye, subsequently causing his death.
“The body was found buried in a shallow hole that was dug under a marula tree next to their house,” said Shikongo.
Tuhafeni was living with his grandmother and his four-year-old brother at the time of the incident.
Shikongo stated that the boy allegedly ran away from home on Thursday after the grandmother left to collect her monthly grant.
“Upon return from her pension pay point, she allegedly found the younger brother alone in the house who informed her that his elder brother ran away from the house,” he said.
Shikongo said the body was discovered the next day by the grandmother. She notified the neighbours who in turn notified the police.
