Four Chinese robbed at gunpoint

A MANHUNT has been launched after three robbers gained access to the Windhoek residence of four Chinese nationals and robbed them at gunpoint of almost N$200 000 in property and cash.

The robbers got away with two iPhones, a Huawei cell phone, two laptops, clothes and cash, including 21 000 Thai baht, US$1 100 and 38 000 Chinese RMB. The cash amounts to about N$119 500 at the current exchange rate. The stolen items’ value is estimated at N$73 299.

The robbery occurred on Sunday at around 03:30 in the Klein Windhoek area.

According to Nampol’s Head of Media, Chief Inspector Elifas Kuwinga, the three suspects removed two precast slabs from the boundary wall to gain entry to the premises.

“They then entered through an unlocked door leading to four flats behind the main house, held four Chinese nationals at gunpoint and took their properties,” he said.

“The suspects allegedly also went to the second floor of the main house unnoticed and removed two laptops from one room where the owner was fast asleep. They then left the house,” he said.
