GONDWANA Collection Namibia has received 17 awards at the Eco Awards Ceremony that took place over the weekend at the gala dinner hosted by the Hospitality Association of Namibia (HAN) in Lüderitz.
Eco Awards Namibia is a sustainable tourism certification programme which was introduced four years ago with the goal of awarding sustainability and conservation. The award categories include conservation and guiding, energy, water, legal compliance as well as staff management and help.
The standard evaluation, which awards one to five Desert Flowers to accommodation establishments and tour operators, focuses on the sustainability concept.

The Canyon Lodge, Canyon Village, Canyon Roadhouse, Zambezi Mubala Lodge, Zambezi Mubala Camp, Etosha Safari Lodge, Etosha Safari Camp, Etosha King Nehale, Chobe River Camp and Hakusembe River Lodge were awarded Five Desert Flowers.
Furthermore, The Namib Desert Lodge, Namib Dune Star Camp, Desert Whisper, The Desert Grace, The Delight Swakopmund and Namushasha River Lodge and Namushasha River Villa have received Five Green Flowers each.
Eco Awards is a result of the collaboration between the private sector and government organisations. The participation in the programme remains voluntary and applicants are re-evaluated every three years.
