A 29-year-old man was arrested for fatally stabbing Jonas Shipopyeni (40) while at Edhepa cuca shop in the Okalonga village.
The incident occurred around 00:30 on Friday in the Oshikoto Region.
Shipopyeni was employed as a cattle herder at one of the nearby houses.
According to Regional Commander Commissioner Armas Shivute, Shipopyeni was allegedly having a conversation with two men when they were approached by the suspect who started pointing his knife.
“He then allegedly hit them with the knife on the head, saying they were making a noise, but the deceased told him to stop as it was wrong,” Shivute said.
An argument erupted between the two men.
Shivute indicated that the suspect started chasing Shipopyeni who then fell to the ground after which the suspect stabbed him in the left eye and in the heart.
Shipopyeni died on the spot.
The knife was recovered and police investigation continues.
