DUE to heavy rainfall and flooding, the Roads Authority (RA) has warned of affected roads in the Kunene Region.
The notice regarding the MR 76 / C35 – Uis-Khorixas reads: The Ugab Bridge section from the Ugab River to Khorixas has been closed, with immediate effect, until further notice.
Road users are kindly requested to use the alternative route via Omaruru.
The MR126 /C39 from Khorixas was affected too.
The Langasem Pass was washed out for approximately seven kilometres. Road users should not attempt to cross the Unib and Huab rivers during this period. The road is only accessible with 4×4 vehicles
On the D2612 in the Twyfelfontein area the Aba-Huab has affected the roads and Twyfelfontein has been cut off and cannot be accessed.
The MR128/C43 – Palmwag-Sesfontein was affected by the Hoanib and Skelm rivers and vehicles cannot pass through. Sesfontein is cut off and cannot be accessed.
The D2628, the link between the MR 126/C35 and D2612, has been closed temporarily to all traffic.
The RA appealed to all motorists to plan their journeys ahead of time and find out about any road closures or floods on their intended routes.
