THE Tanidare parish of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Republic of Namibia (ELCRN) in Katutura’s Soweto has been rocked with scandal after its pastor Willem “Collin” Cloete was arrested and remanded in custody for rape this week.
The suspect is charged with two counts of rape and is alleged to have raped an 18-year-old girl since 2020.
Nampol’s Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi said Cloete was arrested on 7 February 2022.
Shikwambi said the alleged rapes took place in Windhoek and that Cloete appeared in the Katutura Magistrate’s Court on 8 February 2022. He was remanded in custody until 8 February.
