TWO men were arrested for fuel smuggling during separate police operations in the North and face charges of contravening sections of the Petroleum Products and Energy Act.
A 33-YEAR-OLD man was arrested in the Olunkono area in the Oshana Region on Friday around 16:00.
Oshana Nampol Community Affairs Officer, Inspector Thomas Aiyambo, said the suspect was found in possession of 25-litre containers with petrol valued at N$564 and N$3 610 cash, as well as 85 empty 25-litre containers and 5 empty 20-litre containers.

“A white Toyota pickup with Eenhana registration believed to be used in transporting fuel was also seized by the investigators,” he said.
In a separate incident, also on Friday, a 27-year-old man was arrested on the same charges at the Uupundi location during a police search but his alleged partner in crime ran away.
The suspect was found in possession of 35 containers with fuel with a total value of N$14 041, as well as 23 empty 25-litre containers, an empty 200-litre drum and N$15 769.10 in cash at his place of residence.
The police are still looking for the suspect that ran away.
