OF all hospitalized Covid-19 cases 91.6% are unvaccinated and neither are any of the cases in Intensive Care Units (ICUs).
This was announced by health minister Dr Kalumbi Shangula in the latest Covid-19 update report.
The Khomas and Omusati regions have the most hospitalized cases, 17 and 16 respectively, while Khomas also has the highest number of ICU cases, namely five.
Ohangwena and Erongo reported 12 hospitalized cases, Oshana ten, Kunene seven, Zambezi five, Oshikoto and Hardap four each, Kavango East and ||Karas three each, and Otjozondjupa two.
Other regions reporting ICU cases were Oshikoto (two), and Erongo, Oshana and Kavango East (one each).
From 921 test results, 61 new positive cases were reported which represents a 6.6% positivity ratio. The ages range from three to 103 years.
Among the confirmed cases are six learners from different schools, four health care workers and three teachers.
Of the total confirmed cases, 75.4% are unvaccinated.
No deaths were reported and 151 cases from 11 regions have recovered.
The number of active cases is 8 021.
By 1 February, a total of 360 826 people were fully vaccinated, translating to 20.3% of the target population, while 17 000 have received a booster dose.
