ALL four sluices of the Naute Dam in the South were opened at 09:00 on Sunday after the heavy rains filled the dam to 111% and it overflowed.
People in the south of Namibia are to be extra cautious, especially those living along rivers.
NamWater Head of Corporate Communications John Shigwedha said the sluices will remain open until the level is brought to 100%.
NamWater has begun releasing 400 cubic meters of water per second, with outflow lasting several hours.
According to Shigwedha, the situation at the Hardap and Neckartal dams is under control as the current water levels do not require any action at this stage.
