EIGHT-YEAR-OLD Johannes Nghilifavali died tragically when an anthill where he was playing collapsed on him.
The incident reportedly happened on Thursday around 08:00 at Onembaba village in the Okalongo Constituency of the Omusati region.
Omusati Regional Commander Commissioner Titus Shikongo said the boy’s mother went to town in the morning and he was at the neighbour’s house playing with two four-year-old children at the time of the incident.

The children were allegedly playing near an anthill where an elderly neighbour was excavating sand or clay from the area.
“The incident reportedly happened while the old man was ferrying anthill sand with a wheelbarrow onto the field,” Shikongo said.
It is believed that the deceased might have moved too close to the anthill which then collapsed on him as a result.
Shikongo said the body was transported to the Okahao police mortuary for a post-mortem to be conducted.
Police investigation continues.
