A FIRE that broke out in a ghetto in Tutaleni on Saturday has destroyed 28 homes.
According to Sergeant Anastasia Frans of the Erongo police, the fire started its path of destruction around 13:30 at House No. 6205 in Guinea Fowl Street.
“It is alleged that the fire broke out in one of the nine ghettos and burned all of them, as well as the main house, to ashes,” Frans said.
The fire spread and destroyed another sixteen ghettos and two houses in Christian Sand Street.
In total, 25 ghettos and three houses were razed.
It is not known what caused the fire.
No fatalities or injuries were reported.
Frans said the total value of the damages and losses is unknown at this stage.
The police were at the scene, and the Walvis Bay fire brigade extinguished the flames.
Investigation continues.
