A SENSE of sorrow hung in the air for Otjomuise residents today while the body of a female police officer was being carried out of her home after she was strangled to death by her boyfriend.
The murder of the 29-year-old woman, who was in the Special Field Force, reportedly happened this morning at about 08:20 at 8ste Laan, Otjomuise, Windhoek.
Chief Inspector Elifas Kuwinga said that preliminary investigations revealed that the 31-year-old suspect strangled his girlfriend with his bare hands.
“The suspect came to hand himself over to the police at the Otjomuise Police Station. The victim was a member of the Namibian Police Force and attached at Special Field Force Directorate,” Kuwinga said.
The suspect has been arrested and is currently being detained at the Otjomuise Police Station.
The body of the police officer, whose identity has not been revealed as her next of kin has not yet been informed, was transported to the police mortuary for postmortem and police investigations into the matter continue.
