THE 28-YEAR-OLD Silva Natangwe Gabriel, the man accused of impersonating musician Exit to gain the trust of a 19-year-old woman he later reportedly raped, will remain in police custody after making a brief court appearance at the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court today.
Gabriel’s case was postponed to 6 December 2021 to allow for further police investigations.
Gabriel reportedly opened a fake social media account pretending to be the popular musician to lure unsuspecting young women.
He is accused of raping the teenager on Sunday morning after the two met for the first time after chatting for a month.
Community Affairs Officer, Inspector Thomas Aiyambo, stated that the victim travelled to Oshakati in the hopes of meeting Exit.
Aiyambo noted that the victim was then picked up at a taxi rank by the accused, who initially said he had been sent by Exit.
“He took her to a house near the Elcin parish where he raped her and took her mobile phone away,” he said.
