FIVE occupants of a vehicle, including a police officer, were arrested on Thursday at farm Lunenburg, in the Derm area of the Mariental district in Hardap Region, with 20 stolen sheep carcasses valued at N$52 000.

Namibia police spokesperson, Deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, said the incident happened around 00h50 on Thursday early morning when a police operation was conducted by the Hoachanas Police, the Dordabis Police and the local farmers in the area after intelligence-led information.

Shikwambi noted that a blue Toyota Hilux was subsequently intercepted and searched, during which 20 sheep carcasses suspected to have been slaughtered at the farm were found.

According to Shikwambi all five occupants were arrested and charged with stock theft.
