ANOTHER historic moment will take place tomorrow when Namibia’s Paralympians, some of them donning medals from the just ended 2020 Tokyo Paralympics Games, touch down at the Hosea Kutako International Airport at 13h20.
All three athletes, consisting of silver medalist in the T11 400m, Ananias Shikongo, bronze medalist in the T13 400m, Johannes Nambala and Lahja Ishitile, as well as their guides Even Tjiviju, Sam Shimanda and Sydney Kamuaruuma, will form part of a planned parade in the Capital.
In a press statement, the Ministry of Sports, Youth and National Services said that the welcoming ceremony in honour of the athletes will be held at the airport and then the parade will follow afterwards.
The parade, starting from the Hilton Hotel, to Independence Avenue all the way to the Soweto Market, is to allow Namibians to appreciation and celebrate the athletes for their remarkable performances.
President Hage Geingob has already hailed Shikongo’s splendid performance to claim silver at the event.
