A STATE funeral was bestowed on Kazenambo Kazenambo, who died last week and whose wish was to be buried next to his late grandfather Kavikunua at Okapuka on the outskirts of Windhoek.
President Hage Hage Geingob has accorded a state funeral on the former minister and indicated that memorial service for the departed politician will be held at Parliament Gardens on Thursday.
According to a statement issued by State House, the state funeral was accorded by President Geingob under Article 32 (3) (h) of the Namibian Constitution, read together with section 3 (1) of the Conferment of National Honours Act, 2012 (Act No. 11 of 2012).

The statement said that President Geingob was saddened by the passing of Kazenambo Kazenambo and that he will be remembered for the contributions he made towards the development of Namibia in several capacities in which he served.
Kazenambo served as the Deputy Minister of Regional and Local Government, Housing and Rural Development from 2005 to 2009 and Minister of Youth National Service, Sport and Culture from 2010 – 2012. Kazenambo also served as an Ordinary Member of Parliament.
Dr Geingob also extended sincere condolences on behalf of the government and the Namibian people to Kazenambo’s bereaved family, comrades and friends.
The late Kazenambo Kazenambo will be interred at Okapuka on a date agreed to by his family.
