CHRISTINE Mboma this afternoon set a new Women’s 200m Championship record at the World Athletics Junior Championships in Nairobi, Kenya after clocking a stunning time of 21.84 seconds.
The time was also penned as a U20 world record pending her Olympics time of 21.81 that is still awaiting ratification before it can be entered into official books.
Beatrice Masilingi, Namibia’s other super sprinter, took second place with a time of 22.18, which is also her personal best.

Masilingi had an excellent start and held her dominant position throughout the race, while Mboma started off a bit slower but powered through the field in the last 100 metres of the race to beat the other athletes.
Nigeria’s Favour Ofili came in third at a time of 22.23.
The stunning performance by the 18-year-old star athletes means that they will be bringing the gold and silver medals home to the Land of the Brave.
