TEAM Namibia today had its training at the Kasarabi Stadium in Nairobi, Kenya in preparation for tomorrow’s races at the World Athletics U20 Championship.
Coach Henk Botha, who is currently also in Kenya, told Informante that Team Namibia is putting in the extra training to ensure that its athletes compete well on Wednesday.
The 18-year-old Olympics silver medalist Christine Mboma will run the 200m race, as well as the 4 x100m relay, while 18-year-old Beatrice Masilingi will take part in the 100m and 200m races.
Ndawana Haitembu, Carien Oosthuizen, and Nandi Vass will also form part of the 4x100m relay team.
The last team member on Team Namibia is Elvis Gaseb, who will compete in the 100m race.
Botha said that the weather in Nairobi today is cool, but that they are hoping for higher temperatures tomorrow when the team competes.
The World Athletics U20 Championships kicked off today and will conclude on 22 August 2021.
