THE President of Namibia, Hage Geingob, could not have asked for a better 80th birthday present than a silver Olympic medal courtesy of the young Christine Mboma.

Like thousands of other Namibians, Geingob celebrated Mboma’s historic achievement in the women’s 200m final at the Tokyo Olympic Games.

Shortly after the thrilling race, Geingob took to social media to convey his personal congratulatory message to Namibia’s superstars.

“Wow! Silver for Christine Mboma! I wish to congratulate Christine for her brilliant achievement during the 200m final at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. As a country, we are extremely proud. An outstanding ambassador of our country, you have flown the Namibian flag very high.
Beatrice Masilingi, you have done us proud, you put up a brave performance in the 200m final at the Olympics. Even if you didn’t walk away with a medal, the future is bright for you,” said the President on his personal social media accounts, adding “Coach Henk Botha, thank you for nurturing these exceptional talents.”
