JOHN Walters, the outgoing Ombudsman, has been appointed to serve in an acting capacity until September 2021.
The 65-year-old Walters’ term is ending at the end of this month.
His appointment, according to the office of the Judiciary, followings the postponement of the interviews for the position of Ombudsman.
“His Excellency the President of the Republic of Namibia has, on the recommendation of the Judicial Service Commission, appointed Walters for a period of two months from 1 August 2021 to 30 September 2021 as acting Ombudsman. The Judicial Service Commission will now proceed to finalise the process of the recruitment of the new Ombudsman who will be expected to assume office effective 1 October 2021,” the statement said.
