THE Namibian Police in the Ohangwena Region has requested the public to assist with the tracing of the mother of a newborn baby girl who was dumped at an open space near the Erkki Nghimtina Primary School in the Enghandja village.
The bay was discovered by people walking past the school on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Inspector Abner Kaume Itumba, the baby did not have any scratches, was perfectly healthy, and appeared to be a few days old when she was found wrapped in a small blanket and a jersey.
She was immediately taken to the Engela district hospital.
Itumba is requesting residents of Enghandja and surrounding villages to assist in tracing the mother of the baby.
“If you know someone who is no longer pregnant, and has no baby, please report her to the police as a potential suspect,” he said.
