THE resumption of a parliamentary sitting initially scheduled for today will no longer take place due to an extension of the House sitting.
The decision to extend the suspension of the House sittings is due to the increasing number of people testing positive for the Covid-19 virus in the country and the fact that a majority of the Members of Parliament have to travel from all corners of the country, which may contribute to the further spread of the virus.
“The National Assembly hereby informs all its Members, stakeholders and the general public that the resumption of its sittings, which was scheduled for Tuesday, is hereby postponed. The resumption of the House sittings will be communicated in due course, based upon the continued monitoring of the national situation in regards to Covid-19,” said Parliament Spokesperson, David Nahogandja.
He concluded by encourage all Namibians to continue adhering to the Covid-19 regulations and to increase collective efforts to curb the spread of the virus.
