A TECHNICAL committee has been set up by the Kavango East Regional Council to explore more ways of assisting the regions current top athletes, Christine Mboma and Beatrice Masilingi.
The Regional Council, led by Governor Bonifatius Wakudumo, has announced that it will bestow both Mboma and Masilingi N$10 000 to prepare for the Tokyo Olympics slated for next month.
This follows the outstanding performance of both athletes at prestigious competitions in Spain and Poland over the weekend.
The leadership also promised to give the two female athletes a heroic welcome upon their return to Namibia, in line with COVID-19 regulations.
The committee will be chaired by Education Director, Fanuel Kapapero.
Mboma and Masilingi hail from Shinyungwe village and Kehemu location, respectively, in the Kavango East Region.
