AS the Ovaherero community gathered at Komando Hall in Windhoek to pay their last respects to the Paramount Chief of the Ovaherero Traditional Authority, Advocate Vekuii Rukoro who died at the age of 66, President Hage Geingob directed that a state funeral be held for him.
Dr. Geingob also extended his deepest sympathies to the Chief’s bereaved wife, Dinah Jorokee Rukoro, the children, his family, the Ovaherero Traditional Authority, the Ovaherero people, and the nation at large, on the loss of Ombara Otjitambi Rukoro.
“Advocate Rukoro was a sentinel leader who predicated his life to the cause of justice for the Ovaherero people. His death is a great loss at this watershed moment in our country’s history,” Dr. Geingob said.
According to the statement issued by the Namibian Presidency, the remains of the late Advocate Rukoro will be interred on a date and place to be agreed to in consultation with his family.
