ON average a female learner at school loses 47 out of 195 days of class as a result of menstruation and lack of sanitary products.
Employees of the Ministry of Justice used their own resources to acquire sanitary pads for girls at school who are unable to buy their own.
Sanet Steenkamp, the Executive Director of the Ministry of Education, Arts, and Culture applauded the officials of the Ministry of Justice for their positive response and for their contribution which will go a long way in helping needy students.
The justice officials initiated the campaign through the ministerial Wellness Committee. The result after a week was a big box filled with sanitary products for school-going girls.
The campaign was launched to commemorate the International Menstrual Health and Hygiene Day which is celebrated on 28 May every year.
