DETERMINED actions of members of the Swakopmund Fire Brigade prevented a tragedy after a fire broke out in one of the coastal town’s most recognisable landmarks.
The fire broke out in the storeroom of Foschini, a clothing retail outlet in the Shoprite Shopping Centre shortly after midnight on Wednesday morning.
The blaze caused severe damage to the roof of the building and destroyed most of the stock in the Foschini storeroom.
The determined action of firefighters that battled the blaze for four almost four hours, prevented the fire from spreading to other parts of the shopping centre.
No injuries or deaths have been reported and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
