THE 37-year-old Nakathingo Gabriel succumbed to injuries after he was beaten with a piece of firewood on the head by another man during a fight at the Onamatanga Village on Friday.
Omusati Regional Commander, Commissioner Titus Shikongo said both the deceased person and the attacker are Angolan nationals. He added that they were both employed as herders but that they were living at different cattle posts.
According to Shikongo, the fight started after the men were dropped off near their cattle posts after spending the day drinking at a cuca shop.
“While they were fighting the suspect used a dry piece of firewood to beat the victim on the head. The victim sustained serious injuries,” he said.
Shikongo noted that the victim was taken to Onamatanga Clinic before he was transferred to the Oshakati Intermediate Hospital where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.
“The victim, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday,” he said.
Shikongo pointed out that the suspect has been arrested and charged with murder. He added that the suspect is expected to appear in the Okahao Magistrate’s Court later this week.
