PRESIDENT Hage Geingob, arguably Namibia’s biggest sports fan, recognized and congratulated sports superstar Peter Shalulile for being awarded several top titles after setting football fields ablaze in South Africa.
Dr. Geingob also congratulated Deon Hondo after he was recognized by the football fraternity in South Africa for his outstanding sportsmanship.
The president expressed his admiration for the brilliant display of sportsmanship by Namibia’s international footballers.
Geingob, who is also the patron of the Namibia Football Association (NFA) highlighted the achievement of the two players during the just ended Premier Soccer League season.

“Peter Shalulile has been recognized by coaches and peers of the PSL as Footballer and Player of the Season. The recognition is a demonstration of his consistency, hard work, and excellence. I congratulate this brilliant footballer for making Namibia proud in the Official South African Premier Soccer League. I also congratulate Deon Hotto for his award as the Last Man Standing and outstanding player during the MTN8 Cup,” Dr. Geingob said.
Shalulile has been at the forefront of Mamelodi Sundowns’ Premiership-winning season.
Hotto played a leading role in helping Orlando Pirates win the MTN8 title with a 2-1 victory against Bloemfontein Celtic at the Moses Mabhida Stadium last December.
Former Namibian footballer, Robert Nauseb, who was capped 87 times for Kaizer Chiefs, applauded Shalulile and Hotto for their performances in South Africa.
