THE 31-year-old Erasmus ‘Louks’ Shanjengane died instantly when the car he was driving crashed into a big camel thorn tree next to the road between Rehoboth and Bahnhoff during the early hours of this morning.
According to the incident report provided by the Public Relations Division of the Namibian Police, the horrific crash occurred at about 05:53 this morning.
“At this stage, it is believed that Shanjengane lost control over the white Volkswagen Polo which caused it to leave the road and hit the tree. The vehicle slammed into the tree on the side where the driver sits,” the report states.

According to the report, Shanjengane was alone o the vehicle at the time of the crash, and that the violent impact against the tree caused him to die instantly.
The crash occurred about eight kilometres outside Rehoboth.
Members of the Emergency Services had to use special equipment, known as the Jaws of Life, to cut the body of the deceased person from the wreckage.
The Namibian Police in the Hardap Region registered a case of culpable homicide while they hope that a post mortem examination will provide more clarity on the events leading up to and causing the fatal crash.
