DEPUTY Minister of Works and Transport Veikko Nekundi said it’s unacceptable to have a one-man show, which is managing all the affairs of the Roads Authority (RA) from the Kunene to the Zambezi Region.

Nekundi made the remarks whilst addressing an audience at the groundbreaking ceremony of the DR4113: Endola-Eembo road in the Ohangwena region and said it is impossible for RA to only have one manager as it leads to poor service delivery.

He that the Kunene, Omusati, Oshana, Oshikoto, Ohangwena Kavango East and West and Zambezi falls under one RA manager.

Nekundi pointed out that there is an urgent need for a restructuring of management for better planning and development.

“The reason why the government has a structure from the top leaders to the grassroots is for easy management and not to overload themselves with work. This can’t be accepted of RA,” he said.

Approached for comment, RA spokesperson Hileni Fillemon, said the matter is being addressed to have two additional regional managers for the northern central area.

“Our business realignment process was implemented on the 1st April this year and we have made provision for the appointment of two regional managers,” she said, adding that the two will be in charge of Kavango West and East and Zambezi.

Fillemon indicated that the two regional officers will be based in Rundu and will be responsible for NaTIS services and engineering.
