ONDANGWA based boxer Hedison Nghipondoka well-known as “Bulelo” is slowly producing boxers to represent Namibia in the international arena.
This was evident after boxers from his stable won several fights by technical knockout during the MTC-Northern Boxing Championship held in Ongwediva.
The long-awaited tournament was presented by the Kilimanjaro Boxing Club.
In 2012, Nghipondoka established the Bulelo Boxing Academy with an aim of grooming future boxers and ensuring that they are exposed.
As one enters the area of Ondangwa, the boxers are seen training at the open space of the famous Ondangwa tennis court, due to lack of training facility.
The team, which also lacks boxing equipment has never wavered but used an opportunity to nature their talent and maximize the little they have.
Speaking to Informanté, 24-year-old Amundjebo Taapopi, who won by technical knockout during the bout with his opponent Akawa Paulus from the Chris Junior Boxing Academy, revealed that he undertook a strong opponent, but remained optimistic that he was going to win.
“My opponent is a really good boxer, but I came with an aim of delivering a knockout,” he said.
Taapopi, who could not contain his excitement, said that they are very proud of their team’s hard work, despite them being faced with a lack of sponsorship that can give them a much-needed boost.
He revealed that he promised his coach that he was only to win by knockout.
