THE strike action by employees of the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) has entered its fifth day and it left the national broadcaster virtually silent.
Ihana Base Mbaha, a representative of the Namibia Public Workers Union (Napwu) said the striking employees are waiting for the outcome of a press conference planned by the NBC board.
NBC employees went on a countrywide strike after negotiations about salary and benefit increases came to a deadlock.
Napwu’s Deputy Secretary-General, Gabe Andumba said that the strike will continue until the board meets employee demands. He added that the strike action is legal.
Andumba noted that the strike will continue until the demands of the employees are met.
The broadcaster’s Board of Directors has expressed disappointment over the action taken by employees to resort to industrial action.
