THE 22-year-old Fillemon Usko Ndeshimon died almost instantly after he stabbed by his 38-year-old cousin during a fight at the Omufituwanauyala village.
Confirming the incident Omusati Regional Commander, Commissioner Titus Shikongo said the deadly fight occurred at around midnight on Friday.
Shikongo stated that the men were arguing over the fact of who travelled first to the south. A rite of passage commonly referred to as the Oushimba, while they were busy cleaning fish.
Shikongo said that in the process the suspect stabbed the deceased with an Okapi knife on the left thigh. The blade severed his femoral artery which caused the victim to bleed to death in minutes.
According to Shikongo another cousin of the two men that were involved in the fight left before the argument broke out to fetch salt from the homestead’s kitchen.
“Upon his return, he met the suspect at the kitchen’s entrance where he told him that he was going to commit suicide. The other cousin’s body was found in a pool of blood on the spot where the fight occurred,” he said.
Shikongo said the victim was rushed to the Outapi District Hospital but he died on the way. The medical personnel declared him dead upon arrival.
The suspect was prevented from committing suicide. He was arrested and charged with the murder of his cousin.
