The Omungwelume Secondary School on Saturday presented gifts to the former Governor of Ohangwena Region, Usko Nghaamwa, at his traditional homestead at Oipapakane village in the Ohangwena Constituency as a token of their appreciation.
Nghaamwa was declared as a patron of the school following his longstanding and selfless support of the construction of a hostel at the school.
The school delegation, headed by its principal George Nanghanda, handed over a chair and a variety of traditional food items to the former governor.
“Our visit here is to spend a day with you and to present you with these gifts as a token of our appreciation for the enormous support you have offered our school,” Nanghanda told Nghaamwa.
On his part, Nghaamwa stated that Omungwelume SS hostel construction remains one of his number one priorities of projects and assistance.
Nghaaamwa started supporting the school by donating mahangu, food for the learners, an ox worth N$14 000 for a fundraising drive held last year, as well as a contribution of N$ 400 000 from the governor’s office.
The construction which started in 2017, is currently nearing completion.
Nghaamwa earlier this year donated 50 400 super bricks, valued at N$195 000, for the construction project. He also previously solicited and handed over 58 500 super bricks at the start of the hostel’s construction.
The hostel, once completed, will accommodate about 200 learners.
