THE suicide of Saima Joyce Shetunyenga, the principal of the Haikonda Primary School in the Ohangwena Region, has shocked colleagues, neighbours and friends, as well as the entire community.
She was considered a role model for the youth because of her hard work and her encouragement of others to do the same.
According to the police, the 47-year-old Shetunyenga committed suicide by hanging in her house in the Onhuno area on Tuesday.
Villagers are expressing concern about the high incidences of suicides that now include prominent personalities from the same area.
The suicide of principal Shetunyenga followed shortly after the death of well-known businessman and headman of the Onaame cluster of villages, Warde Tawii Haitembu, who committed suicide in Windhoek last month.
