THE 84-year-old Namashana Gabriel Iita committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree at the Elyalyatika village in the Ogongo Constituency.
Omusati Regional Commander, Commissioner Titus Shikongo said the incident occurred on Monday at around 22:48.
Shikongo stated that the old man’s lifeless body was discovered by his wife hanging from a chain around his neck under the bird plum tree.
“The body was transported to Okahao Police Mortuary where an autopsy will be carried out,” he said.
Shikongo noted that no suicide note was found at the scene.
