Samuel N. Shinedima

THE medical doctor from Tsumeb, Dr. Shadi Ismael, who was arrested along with his co-accused John Ndadi Tuyoleni in Otjiwarongo during a sting operation of the Anti-Corruption Commission last week, was granted bail of N$100 000.00 with conditions attached.

The doctor is accused of attempting to bribe an investigator of the corruption watchdog with N$80 000 to terminate an investigation into other immoral activities in which he was involved while Tuyoleni was arrested because he performed as a transitional and a payment facilitator between the ACC’s detective and the doctor.

Tuyoleni was also released on bail of N$100 000.

After both accused persons were granted bail the matter was postponed to the 11th May 2021 for further investigations.

Both of the bribery accused were ordered to surrender their travel documents as part of their bail conditions.

Subject to Act No.8 of 2003, a person convicted of an offense under any provision of this chapter is liable to a fine not exceeding N$500 000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 25 years or both.
