THE Namibian Police in the Erongo Region is looking for four men that robbed a gambling house in the industrial area of Swakopmund on Saturday evening.
According to the incident report provided by NamPol, the robbery occurred at about 19:45 at the Winner Casino situated in the Cash and Carry Complex on the corner of Nelson Mandela and Mandume Ndemufayo Streets.
The report states that five men entered the establishment and pretended to gamble.
“Two of the men suddenly took out firearms and overpowered an employee of the gambling house. They held her at gunpoint and forced her to empty the safe in the back office. They took about N$90 000 in cash and fled from the premises.”
The men jumped into green Opel Corsa and drove away. The employee at the gambling house managed to note the registration number of the car which enabled the police to trace and arrest the 43-year-old owner.
According to the report, the investigating officers did not recover any of the stolen cash during the arrest and are still searching for the four remaining suspects.
The report states that the investigating officers were also tasked to establish if the gambling house that was robbed is properly licensed.
