THE management of the Oniipa Town Council signed performance agreements with regard to the execution of their mandated tasks with the Chief Executive Officer, Junias Jakob and other key managers on Thursday.
The signing of performance agreements with their employer is aimed at improving service delivery in Oniipa.
“The performance agreements are a commitment to attain strategic objectives outlined in the town five-year strategic plan,” Jakob said at the signing ceremony.

Daniel Ndaningina from the Institute of Training and Consultancy Services indicated that the performance agreements that were signed by the various employees of the local authority are intended to ensure that work is done and services are delivered.
He indicated that through the performance agreement a yearly appraisal based on competency, attitude and work ethics will be carried out.
“The CEO will be responsible for assessing if the councillors and management are on target, while other employees will be assessing their colleagues on key performance issues and corporate values.
The Mayor of Oniipa, David Kambonde, said a town without a performance management agreement will not achieve its development plans or goals.
Mayor Kambonde stated that the council has implemented the strategic plan to improve service delivery to the residents of Oniipa. He added that the plan will be continuously reassessed until 2024 when all development targets and goals must be attained.
The mayor further said that the town council has already implemented plans for the development of seven new townships.
“We currently have Onethindi proper house development underway while several residential areas have already been electrified,” Kambonde said.
The mayor urged councillors to take their performance agreements seriously, to continue with the good initiative, and to be fair when they do appraise one another.
“It is dangerous to attach emotions and personal difference when appraising someone,” he warned.
