THE Namibian Police has requested the public’s assistance in tracing four suspects accused of rape during the past weekend.
One of the incidents of rape involved a 51-year-old woman that was raped on Friday around 20:00 when three suspects snuck into her house. According to the crime bulletin provided by the Public Relations Division of the Namibian Police, the victim noticed strange footprints outside her house when she came home.
“Upon inspecting her house, one of the three suspects overpowered her and held her at knifepoint. The man strangled her and demanded money from her before raping her,” the bulletin states.
While the first suspect was busy with the woman his two companions ransacked her car and her room for valuables.
According to Nampo’sl spokesperson, Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, an amount of N$140 was stolen from the victim’s purse.
The incident happened at the Onelago B location of Ongwediva.
No arrests or recoveries have been made.
In another incident on Saturday, a 27-year-old woman was raped after an unknown man gained entry to her shack by cutting through the chain at the door.
The victim was in the company of another female when the suspect, who was armed with a pistol and a knife threatened the two women.
The second woman escaped unharmed.
No suspect has been arrested as of yet, but investigations continue.
The incident happened in Windhoek’s Wanaheda location, between 01:00 and 02:00.
In Mariental, an 11-year-old girl was raped during the early hours of Sunday morning.
A suspect unlocked the shack in which the victim, her mother, and a younger sibling were sleeping.
According to the crime report, the man raped the girl while she slept.
“When the victim woke up she became aware of what was happening and she called for help. The suspect attempted to flee but he was arrested later on Sunday,” the crime report stated.
